1. Who is the concessionaire of the West Coast Expressway (WCE)?
West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd (WCESB) is the highway concessionaire for the West Coast Expressway (Taiping-Banting).
2. What is the total distance of the highway operated by WCESB?
The total distance of the WCE from Taiping to Banting under the scope of privatization is 233km covering:
- Selangor – 93.8km
- Perak State – 139.2km
3. What are the sections of WCE under the privatization concept?
The WCE under the scope of privatization includes 12 sections as follows:
- Banting – South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE)
- SKVE – Shah Alam Expressway (SAE)
- SAE – Federal Highway Route 2 (FHR2) / New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE)
- FHR2 / NKVE – Bandar Bukit Raja Selatan
- Bandar Bukit Raja Selatan – Bandar Bukit Raja Utara
- Bandar Bukit Raja Utara – Assam Jawa
- Assam Jawa – Tanjung Karang
- Hutan Melintang – Teluk Intan
- Kg. Lekir – Changkat Chermin
- Changkat Chermin – Beruas
- Beruas – Taiping South
- Changkat Keruing – Seputih
*Section 12 is a deferred alignment where construction is to be carried out subject to compliance in the Concession Agreement (CA).
4. Which sections have been opened to users?
A total of eight (8) sections have been opened to users as follows:
Section 1: Banting – South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE)
Opened on 30 August 2024
Section 2: SKVE – Shah Alam Expressway (SAE)
Opened on 22 January 2025
Section 5: Bandar Bukit Raja Selatan – Bandar Bukit Raja Utara
Opened on 10 December 2019
Section 6: Bandar Bukit Raja Utara – Assam Jawa
Opened on 21 November 2023
Section 8: Hutan Melintang – Teluk Intan
Opened on 31 May 2019
Section 9: Lekir – Changkat Chermin

Section 10: Changkat Chermin – Beruas

5. What about other sections / alignments?
Three sections are currently under construction. The entire stretch of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026:
- SAE – NKVE / Federal Highway Route 2 (FHR2) (Section 3)
- NKVE / FHR2 – North Klang Straits Bypass (NNKSB) (Section 4)
- Assam Jawa – Tanjong Karang (Section 7)
6. What is the toll system implemented at WCE?
WCE is a highway that operates using a closed toll system.
7. How is the WCE toll fare were calculated?
The calculation of the toll fare is based on the distance travelled and the toll rate as approved and gazetted by the Government.
8. What is the method for toll collection at WCE?
Fully Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system was implemented by WCE using Touch ‘n Go (TnG) card, SmartTAG device (on selected toll plaza) and RFID Tag. Users need to touch the TnG card or display the SmartTAG / RFID Tag at the entrance toll plaza and toll rates will be charged at the exit toll plaza.
9. Can I use RFID in WCE?
Yes, the RFID system is operational at the following toll plazas:
- Banting
- SKVE
- SAE
- Bandar Bukit Raja Selatan
- Bandar Bukit Raja Utara
- Assam Jawa
- Hutan Melintang
- Teluk Intan
- Lekir
- Sitiawan
- Sitiawan Utara
- Changkat Chermin
- Beruas
- Trong
- Taiping Selatan
10. Can I use the eWallet/PayDirect application in WCE?
No, eWallet / PayDirect is currently not supported at WCE toll plazas.
11. Can users use cash to make toll payments in WCE?
No. Only electronic payment using TnG card or RFID is accepted.
12. Where can users buy TnG cards at WCE?
Users can purchase TnG cards at the Self-Service Kiosk provided at the WCE toll plaza. However, users are advised to purchase a TnG card in advance before entering the highway.
13. What facilities are provided to users along the WCE?
WCE provides the following facilities to highway users:
- Emergency Telephone at every 2km.
- Layby at each toll plaza to which provides parking spaces, toilets and surau.
- Self-Service Kiosks for TnG card purchase and top-up.
- Highway patrol.
14. Is a towing service available at WCE?
WCE is ready to assist in obtaining third party towing services only if the damaged/abandoned vehicles were not be transferred within the stipulated period. However, towing services managed by WCE are only to the nearest safe areas such as layby at toll plaza.
15. Are there Rest and Service Area (RSA) along the WCE?
Yes, RSA Sungai Nyior (NB and SB) is open to the public and offers facilities such as:
- Toilets
- Surau (prayer room)
- Playground
- Food and beverage outlets
Other RSAs along the WCE are currently under development.
16. Are there petrol station facilities at WCE?
There are currently no petrol stations on the highway. Users are advised to refuel at nearby locations before entering the highway.
17. What should users do in the event of an emergency or need help while in WCE?
Users can contact our highway patrol using the Emergency Telephone provided along the highway or call WCE Infoline 1700-81-6600.
18. Are there any EV charging facilities along the WCE?
Yes, WCE currently provides four (4) EV charging facilities at the following locations:
- Taiping Selatan Toll Plaza
- Trong Toll Plaza
- Assam Jawa Toll Plaza
- SAE Toll Plaza
